KDPMA HISTORY

HISTORY

In the mid 60's a few Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Karnataka would meet over a cup of coffee at a restaurant, or in one of the many clubs to discuss the challenges they faced, in running the industry they were heading. This was the birth of an informal association of Karnataka Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, who were later joined by the cosmetic manufacturers.

This group formed the Karnataka Drugs and Cosmetics Manufacturers Association, and subsequently, the association was registered under the name Karnataka Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers' Association (KDPMA).

The formative years of the association were primarily focussed on solving various problems of the pharmaceutical industry in the state of Karnataka.
The Association members and the Managing committee engaged positively with the Drugs Control Department, Drugs Controller General of India, Central Excise, Commercial Taxes Department, State Excise Department, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Directorate of Factories Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, BICP now known as NPPA, DGFT and various other government authorities.
